Sprucing up for Spring

Boy it has been a long winter in New England. Our tulips are just blooming. Better late than never. I have been itching to spruce up with some spring decor and add a little umph to our living space. I am starting in the living & dining room with my mantel and dining table.

Here is my spring mantel. On the left is during the day and on the right is a night.
Letters are thick cardboard that I wrapped with jute twine. I found these cute little tin pots at the Dollar Tree. I used one on my mantel and added flowers to it. The sign is from Kohl's. Lantern from Pier 1. The ball is a Styrofoam ball that I wrapped with jute twine. The candle stick is a Styrofoam cylinder also wrapped with jute twine then I added burlap to the top and bottom.

Here is my Table Centerpiece.

Here I used the other tin pot with a small boxwood topiary ball in it. The tray came from Hobby Lobby. My burlap runner I purchases on Etsy from HomesteadBurlaps. All candles are from my stash and they all have a timer feature.

Thanks for stopping by!

What I have a Doctor's Appointment Tomorrow?!?!

If you are like me and my husband we have various appointment cards in various places. Some on the fridge, some on the counter, in your wallet, jean pocket.... etc.

On occasion we have been caught by surprise when we get home and hear a message on our answering machine that we have an appointment tomorrow.

So to help us be more organized I went to my local Hobby Lobby, gathered up some supplies and crafted a Message Board.

I bought a wooden frame, a canvas wrapped in burlap, jute twine, small metal clips, small red clothes pins, chalk board pins, hooks, tacks and a small red pail.
Assembling the Supplies
I screwed the burlap canvas to the front of the wood frame. Then added hooks to the bottom, strung the jute twine back and forth across the board, and added the clips.

Here is the finished product.

Now there is no excuse for being surprised by an appointment...lol

Get me a saw I got myself a Work Bench!

YIPEEEEEE!

When I walked into my house the other day, what might you ask was waiting for me in my living room....
My folding work bench. I have to say I did a little dance when I saw it.

I purchased the Keter 17182239 Folding Work Table

My wonderful husband did the research for me and found this to be rated good and a great price on Amazon. It comes with 2 removable 12" clamps. The best part it folds away for easy storage. We live in a condo and do have 1 garage, but storage is at a premium and we can't fit an full fledged work area in the garage so this folding work bench is just the ticket.

Now I just have to decide on my first project and then have the courage to get to it.
I really would love an orchard ladder in my downstairs bathroom to hold towels... hmmm could this be my first project. We shall see. I will keep you posted.

Until then Happy Happy Happy

Here is what I came home to last night

Only today they are predicted a little wet snow overnight.... oh will this winter ever end?

Come on Spring!
